In short, the “Transit Approved” wording overlaid on the image relates specifically to prey detection. This wording was chosen before we had Door Policies and we’re working on clarifying the wording. (Side note: it’s actually surprisingly complex as it requires a decision making tree which may change from one frame to another).
Instead, have a look in the top right corner, the padlock symbolises whether the cat flap was locked or unlocked.

Cases where OnlyCat can’t read your cat’s microchip are fairly rare; but may occur for one of two (main) reasons:
1. You may have a metal door. Proximity of metal to the microchip (RFID) reading coils can attenuate the signal. We may be able to investigate this remotely and advise on the possible resolutions.
2. In some cases the cat’s chip may have migrated to the point of being unreadable. Please reach out to the team and we’ll advise if this seems to be the case. In such cases you may wish to ask your vet to implant a second microchip, embed a microchip in your cat’s collar (available as an accessory through OnlyCat), or allow all cats to enter – with the possibility of locking on reading of an intruder cat’s microchip.
OnlyCat doesn’t presently operate with standard collar tags, but we will be releasing this functionality over the coming weeks. Please reach out to us if this is important to you so we can prioritise this in our roadmap.
